29 June 2003, Hugh’s Fine Guitars in association with
the Gilbert family, Andy McGibbon’s Guitar World, Sony
Music (SA) and Look & Listen, staged a benefit concert
for Nick Gilbert, a prominent figure on the South African
music scene. The purpose of the
concert, was to raise funds for Nick, who was sadly seriously
injured in a motor accident some months before. Money was
urgently required to alleviate Nick’s growing medical
bills. I am happy to announce
that the concert was a roaring success, and the turnout exceeded
all expectations. The money that was raised exceeded our target,
and I would like to express my warmest appreciation to everyone
involved, as well as to everyone who attended and supported
